Piece also focuses on worldwide growth of Jiu-Jitsu.
Jiu-Jitsu found well-deserved space in this Sunday's "Folha de São Paulo" newspaper. In the article by Sergio Rizzo, with help from Eduardo Ohata, readers found out the next movie by acclaimed director David Mamer will have the gentle art as its theme. The full-feature "Redbelt" tells the story of a Jiu-Jitsu master that participates in a tournament in search of the mentioned "red belt". The film includes participations from the Brazilians Rodrigo Santoro and Alice Braga, the black belt John Machado, as well as the American Joe Mantegna and Englishman Chiwetel Ejiofor.
For the article, Rizzo sat in on several days of the shooting of the 10 million-dollar-budget film, which is considered low budget by Hollywood standards. It conveys the passion of the celebrated director for Jiu-Jitsu (the sport he practices with teacher Renato Magno, of Sao Paulo), and his relationship with the Machado family.
